Blogging - I'm back

Blogging is hardly new to me at all. I have been doing it on and off the past four years on blogspot (my original site was long gone without my knowing it unfortunately) and xanga (largely due to my ex-students). I just enjoy piecing my thoughts together in the written form, more than the verbal form as I always do. We, Hongkongers, are really behind the Koreans when it comes to blogging. It was the Koreans who first started it back in 2003.

Blogging is wonderful. The birth of blogs has totally changed the rule of the game and the media landscape. In the past, only journalists and writers could write and publish their works and thoughts. Now the platform is open to everyone as long as you know how to write (though in no way does it mean that one writes well). Everyone can contribute to how any event is, can be or should be interpreted.

T
hat brings us to the question of what media really are and how messages are communicated. It used to be through a one-to-many mode but what we experience now is a many-to-many mode. A few good examples are the social media which are flourising everywhere in the world.

The interesting question will be: 'What's next?' and 'How does it work?'
